Sheepdogs and Wolves
There are three kinds of people: sheep, sheepdogs and wolves.
About 96% fall into the first group. About 3% in the second. And about 1% are wolves. The sheepdogs are the warfighters, the frontline law enforcement, fire fighter, EMTs, Search and Rescue members and the everyday man or woman possessed of a spirit that runs toward the sound of gunfire or the glow of the flame or the cries of those in danger. They are protective by nature. The wolves are the violent offenders, the sociopaths and those whose habit is to hurt others for their own gain.
Sometimes the sheep are uncomfortable around the sheepdog because he shares some characteristics with the wolf. The sheepdog also bares his teeth. He will threaten those who threaten him. The sheepdog will dive into the fray to protect his sheep and fellow sheepdogs. The wolf is wary of the sheepdog because he knows the sheepdog will bite.
With the recent onslaught of stranger-to-stranger violence caught on camera nearly daily in many cities, coupled with the frequent brash daylight smash-and-grab larcenies perpetrated by organized criminal gangs, America’s citizens are in dire need of the sheepdog. There is another character in this metaphor. The shepherd would be the political administrator. In many jurisdictions the shepherd has chained their sheepdogs or in other ways has put restrictions on their activities.
Examples of this type of interference include reducing jail and prison populations through early and mass-release programs. The defunding and lack of support of police agencies is another. Liberal municipal prosecutors and attorneys general also contribute to the no- no-consequences tide of criminal activity by implementing no-cash bail and catch-and-release programs. The wolf population is growing disproportionately to the sheepdog.
The sheepdog has a simple view of his environment. Sheep should graze in peace. Wolves should be driven away from the sheep. The human condition includes right and wrong, peace and turmoil, good guys and bad guys. At ArkForce, our mission is single-minded. Keep the peace. Stand between our client’s business and trouble. Keep the wolves at bay by projecting an unassailable force.
